Miners Shiraz Selected Rows 30 to 54 – 2019

$25.00

In 2019, Peppin Ridge Estate harvested its second crop and despite a drought, we managed to double the 2018 yield!   Through the pruning months we cut nearly half of the old wood from the existing 4,000 Shiraz vines.  This allowed younger canes to be laid down and thrive.

With the assistance of family and friends, all the grapes were hand-picked. de-stemmed and sent to a ‘potter’ style fermenter.  The wine was left to cold soak on the skins for four days before fermentation commenced.  Then we began to pump the juice over the skins three times a day for optimum skin extraction without harsh tannins.

After two weeks on the skins, we pressed off the wine and transferred it to a mixture of old French and American oak barrels, where it matured for 16 months.

The wine has a deep purple hue and an explosive aroma of fresh berry fruit and dark chocolate.  the palate is pleasingly elegant, soft, luscious and long.  Oodles of soft juicy fruit are balanced by a sturdy pillar of acidity on delicate tannins with lingering flavours that will leave you craving another glass.
